CÉCILE ELIAS | CLASSICAL PILATES EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOP

February 6–7, 2027 | Body & Mind Pilates Training Studio | Boca Raton, Florida

Discover the Details. Deepen Your Understanding. Transform the Way You Move and Teach.

Join us at Body & Mind Pilates Training Studio as we welcome Cécile Elias for a special weekend dedicated to the depth, intelligence, and intention behind the Classical Pilates method.

Through thoughtful exploration of breath, spinal mobility, apparatus work, and the role of the arms throughout the Mat repertoire, Cécile invites participants to look beyond simply performing an exercise and begin understanding what makes it truly effective.

Designed for Pilates instructors, teachers in training, and dedicated practitioners, this experience offers an opportunity to revisit familiar exercises with a fresh perspective, strengthen your understanding of the classical system, and discover meaningful connections between movement, breath, and control.

Whether you’re looking to refine your teaching, deepen your personal practice, or reconnect with the details that make the Pilates method so extraordinary, we invite you to join us.

SUNDAY’S EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS

WORKSHOP I: OPEN YOUR HEART

Breathing, Barrels, Baby Arm Chair & Pedi Pole

Saturday, February 6 | 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM

In Open Your Heart, Cécile takes us deeper into the relationship between breath, spinal mobility, and the organization of the upper body.

With a particular emphasis on creating space throughout the thoracic spine, this workshop explores how intentional breathing and carefully selected apparatus exercises can influence the way we move, organize, and support the body.

Participants will explore:

  • The Power of Breath: Discover breathing techniques and the implementation of the Breath-e-ciser, exploring how conscious breathing can influence movement and awareness throughout the Pilates system.

  • Opening Work on the Barrels: Explore how the Barrels can encourage thoracic extension, create space through the chest, and support greater awareness of spinal movement.

  • The Baby Arm Chair: Examine the relationship between the arms, shoulders, chest, and back while exploring how the apparatus helps organize and lift the upper body.

  • The Pedi Pole: Investigate the balance between lift, stability, and control, creating opportunities to better understand the relationship between the spine, shoulders, and upper body.

  • Applying the Work to the Repertoire: Connect these discoveries to familiar exercises, including Second Stomach Massage, Short Box Straight, and Short Box Twist.

WORKSHOP II: INTENTIONAL ARMS ON THE MAT

Understanding the Role of the Arms Throughout the Classical Mat Repertoire

Saturday, February 6 | 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM

In Intentional Arms on the Mat, Cécile invites participants to take a deeper look at the purpose of the arms throughout the Mat repertoire and how their actions influence the body as a whole.

This workshop explores not only what the arms are doing, but why their participation matters.

What we’ll explore:

  • The intention behind arm placement and movement throughout the Classical Mat repertoire.

  • How the arms contribute to organization, stability, coordination, and control.

  • Understanding the relationship between the arms, shoulder girdle, trunk, and spine.

  • Recognizing when the arms are actively supporting an exercise rather than simply moving through it.

  • How to facilitate the necessary actions of the arms with or without additional support from the studio apparatus and classical system.

  • Developing greater awareness of the details that can influence the execution and experience of familiar Mat exercises.

ABOUT CÉCILE ELIAS

A Lifelong Student of Movement and the Classical Pilates Method

Cécile Elias brings more than two decades of Pilates teaching experience and a deep commitment to continued education within the Classical Pilates method.

Beginning her Pilates journey at the age of 15, Cécile discovered the method while recovering from a broken ankle. What began as a way to continue moving developed into a lasting passion for Pilates and the possibilities it offers the body.

Cécile began teaching Pilates in 2004 and received comprehensive certification through Power Pilates in New York. Her continued studies include Mejo Wiggin’s Classical Syllabus Program, Clare Dunphy’s advanced teacher education, and Kathi Ross-Nash’s Pilates Professional Advanced Teacher Training.

With a background in dance, movement, fitness, and wellness, she approaches Pilates with a genuine curiosity about the body and an appreciation for the depth of Joseph Pilates’ original system.

Her dedication to lifelong learning and thoughtful instruction makes her an inspiring educator for both experienced teachers and committed students.

This February, we’re delighted to bring her knowledge and perspective to our Pilates community in South Florida.
